ADDITIONAL PV5 METHOD TOOL • DISC SALES PROFILE

PV5 DISC SALES PROFILE

How you communicate and adapt to different customers.

The PV5 DISC Sales Profile is an additional educational tool of the PV5 Method. It does not assess how good a salesperson you are, and there are no right or wrong answers. It helps you understand how you tend to communicate and operate in sales — and how to adapt your approach more consciously to different customers. You do not need to change who you are.

What is DISC?
WHAT DISC MEANS

What is DISC?

The four dimensions D, I, S and C describe different preferences in how a person acts, communicates and decides. No style is better or worse. Most people show a combination of all four, and the aim in sales is to understand yourself better and adapt to the person in front of you, rather than change your personality.

D

Dominance (Dominance)

Result • Action • Decision

You tend to seek progress, clear direction and results. In sales, taking initiative and leading the process comes naturally to you.

I

Influence (Influence)

Communication • Enthusiasm • Connection

You tend to influence through communication, positive energy and personal connection. Relationships and interaction are important tools for you.

S

Steadiness (Steadiness)

Trust • Support • Patience

You tend to create security, continuity and trust. You listen, support and prefer a steady development of the relationship.

C

Conscientiousness (Conscientiousness)

Accuracy • Analysis • Evidence

You tend to rely on accuracy, logic and good preparation. You want your proposal to stand up to scrutiny and be supported by evidence.

The history of DISC
FROM THEORY TO MODERN APPLICATION

The history of DISC

1928 — William Moulton Marston

In Emotions of Normal People he presents the theoretical basis of the four behavioural dimensions. Marston did not create a DISC assessment himself.

1940s–1950s — First assessment tools

Later practitioners developed tools that linked behavioural measurements with the theoretical direction of Marston.

1970s onwards — Professional development

Different DISC-based tools evolved for communication, teams, leadership and sales.

Today — PV5 DISC Sales Profile

An independent educational self-assessment tool that applies the general D/I/S/C dimensions to real sales situations.

The PV5 DISC Sales Profile is not a Wiley Everything DiSC® assessment and is not presented as a certified psychometric or diagnostic tool.

DISC SALES PROFILE

UNDERSTANDING & ADAPTING TO THE CUSTOMER

WHERE DISC FITS INTO THE PV5 METHOD — AS AN ADDITIONAL TOOL

Additional insight into how you adapt to the customer — not a compulsory step in the journey.

The FREE PV5 SALES ASSESSMENT remains the main first step: it shows what you do today and which areas are worth improving. The DISC Sales Profile is used additionally when you want to understand your natural approach in sales better and learn how to adapt to different customers.

The main journey remains: PV5 SALES ASSESSMENT → RESULT → FREE PERSONAL DISCUSSION → TRAINING → COACHING.
Personality and DISC are optional tools.

“An effective salesperson does not sell as they would personally like to buy. They learn to communicate in the way that helps that specific customer decide.”
